LaMB is LAura Marie Blankenship. LaMB Fine Art is where you can find her work. Laura is an up-and-coming artist from southwest Virginia.
After growing up in the town of Abingdon–a small artistic and cultural haven in the foothills of Appalachia–Laura earned her Bachelor’s Degree from the College of William & Mary in Psychology, with 15 art credits amd a Philosophy minor. Laura moved back to Abingdon, VA in 2011 and has worked for several small businesses and a non-profit. With the goals of
cultivating creativity within herself and nurturing and serving others, Laura has worked as a ghostwriter, editor, server, suicide prevention specialist, social media manager, personal assistant, barista, guest speaker, and teacher.
Most recently, Laura had an opportunity to teach art at Valley Institite Elemetary for 7 weeks in Spring 2015 as the long term substitute. She fell in love with teaching elementary art and with developing and adapting lessons to excite students about learning. Laura is interested in using art not only to teach technique, but also sustainability, mindfulness, and getting in touch with oneself through the creative process.
In summer 2015, Laura was awarded a Studio Assistantship at Penland School of Crafts where she studied with and assisted Yolanda Sanchez in the painting workshop: Cultivating Possibility: The Magic of Creative Awareness.
When she is not painting, Laura teaches classes at Paper Moon Studio in Abingdon, Virginia, substitute teaches, hikes, bikes, and practices yoga.
